Loyola Local Action Conference
350 Chicago attended the Loyola Local Action Conference to talk to students about the work our organization does in Chicago and Illinois. We tabled at the conference, gaining signatures on postcards in support of the Illinois Fossil Fuel Divestment Act and the Utility Transparency Act.
Executive Director Larry Coble participated in a panel discussion about Illinois Energy and Utilities during the breakout sessions, answering questions about fossil fuel divestment and utility lobbying reform in Illinois. He discussed the Fossil Fuel Divestment Act and the Utility Transparency Act that have been introduced into the legislature in Springfield. He answered questions from the moderator and the audience, outlining the importance of divestment to solve the climate crisis while describing the ways the Utility Transparency act would help utility bill payers pay less on their bills during the current affordability crisis.
Thank you to Loyola Student Aana Shenai, 350 Chicago Board member and current co-President of the Loyola Student Environmental Alliance, for recruiting 350 Chicago to participate in the event.
Thank you to Abby Schwartz, 350 Chicago Communications Team Lead, for helping with tabling during the conference.
