This summer has been another season of more frequent and intense storms in Illinois. We have seen wildfire smoke make our air harmful to breathe. Given the federal government’s continued efforts to undermine climate solutions, local climate action is more important than ever. It is up to us to defend our planet.
350 Chicago has ramped up that fight over the last year, and we need your support to keep our positive momentum going! This September, become a 350 Chicago Climate Sustainer. For as low as 11 cents per day, you can commit to supporting year-round climate action and a transition to a fossil-free future.
Join 350 Chicago in forging a more sustainable future! Over the last year, we have worked toward fossil fuel divestment at the state level and toward utility lobbying reform. Our activities have included the following:
Collecting and delivering to state legislators 2500 postcards in support of the Fossil Fuel Divestment Act (FFDA) and 2100 postcards for the utility transparency bill;
Held a Town Hall on the FFDA; We will repeat it in other parts of the state
Negotiated the method of divestment with pension boards leadership;
Grew the divestment coalition, Climate Safe Pensions Illinois, to include 44 organizations. We will continue to grow it to 100 organizations total
Hosted 8 Speaker Series webinars, including our new Climate Solution Series on Adopting EV’s and Adopting Solar in Illinois.
Your generous monthly gift will power this work - and more - to fight for clean energy in the state as we move into 2027, when both the FFDA and utility transparency bills will be reintroduced in the legislature and we plan town halls on both bills.
